Sea Otter
There are many kinds of otter but in this information report, I'll only post about sea otter.
Sea Otter is a kind of otter that lives in the sea. It is a marine mammal native to the coasts of northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. Adult sea otter typically weigh between 15 to 45 kg. It has a thick coat of fur. Sea otter lives mostly in the ocean although it can walk on land. Sea otter mostly eats marine invertebrates such as sea urchins, various mollusks, and some species of fish.
In between 1741 and 1911, sea otters were hunted extensively for their fur and the world population fell to 1.000-2.000 from 150.000-300.000 individuals. An international ban on hunting, conservation, and reintroduction programs into previously populated areas have contributed to numbers of rebounding, and the species now occupies about two-thirds of its former range. The recovery of the sea otter is considered an important success in marine conservation. Although the sea otter remains classified as an endangered species because the population in the Aleutian Islands and California have recently plateaued at depressed levels.
Male sea otters usually weigh more than female sea otters. The sea otter also has no blubber to keep them warm unlike most other marine mammals. It relies on its exceptionally thick fur to keep warm. there are up to 150.000 strands of hair per square centimeters. A sea otter's thick fur makes its body appear much plumper on and than in the water. Sea otters eat in the morning, starting about an hour before sunrise, and then rest or sleep in mid-day. Then the second period is in the afternoon and the third period is occur around midnight. They sometimes sleep holding paws to keep from drifting apart.
Let's continue conserving sea otter and many other endangered animals to keep them from extinction.
